Peptide Therapy Informed Consent
Effective Date: August 1, 2026 | Version: 1.0
This consent provides important information about peptide therapy offered through Halftime Health’s clinical platform. Please read it in full before consenting. You are not required to proceed with peptide therapy, and you may ask questions at any time.
1. What Are Peptides?
Peptides are short chains of amino acids — the building blocks of proteins — that occur naturally in the human body and in food. Therapeutic peptides are compounds that mimic or modulate naturally occurring peptide signaling pathways. They are used in clinical practice to support goals such as body composition, metabolic health, recovery, and hormonal balance.
The peptides prescribed through Halftime Health are compounded — meaning they are prepared by a licensed compounding pharmacy specifically for you, based on the clinician’s prescription.
2. FDA Regulatory Status
Compounded peptides are not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FDA has not reviewed or approved the safety or efficacy of these specific compounded formulations for the intended uses. This means:
- There is no FDA-reviewed clinical evidence establishing the safety and efficacy of these compounded formulations for the specific uses for which they are prescribed.
- The FDA has, at various times, placed certain peptides on lists of “difficult to compound” substances or taken enforcement actions related to certain peptide compounds. Your clinician will only prescribe peptides that are currently permissible under applicable law and compounding pharmacy standards at the time of prescription.
- Compounding pharmacies used by Halftime Health are licensed by applicable state boards of pharmacy and, where required, operate as FDA-registered 503B outsourcing facilities.
3. Potential Benefits
Clinical and research literature suggests potential benefits for certain peptides, including support for body composition, metabolic function, tissue repair, sleep quality, and immune modulation, among others. Your clinician will discuss the specific peptide(s) being considered and the evidence base applicable to your situation.
Halftime Health does not guarantee any specific outcome. Individual responses vary based on genetics, health status, lifestyle, adherence, and other factors.
4. Potential Risks and Side Effects
All medical interventions carry risks. Potential risks associated with peptide therapy include, but are not limited to:
- Local reactions: Pain, redness, bruising, or swelling at the injection site (for injectable peptides).
- Hormonal effects: Depending on the peptide, effects on growth hormone, insulin, or other hormones may occur, including potential interactions with existing conditions such as diabetes, hypothyroidism, or cancer history.
- Water retention or bloating (commonly reported with certain peptides).
- Fatigue or changes in energy levels during initial use.
- Allergic reactions, including rare risk of anaphylaxis.
- Unknown long-term risks: Because many compounded peptides lack long-term FDA-reviewed clinical trial data, long-term safety profiles are not fully established.
- Drug interactions: Peptides may interact with medications you are currently taking. Disclose all current medications to your clinician.
This list is not exhaustive. You should discuss your individual risk profile with your clinician.
5. Alternatives
Alternatives to peptide therapy for your stated goals may include, depending on your situation:
- FDA-approved medications (e.g., GLP-1 receptor agonists for metabolic health).
- Lifestyle modifications: nutrition, resistance training, sleep optimization.
- Other evidence-based protocols offered through Halftime Health or referral to an in-person specialist.
- No treatment.
Your clinician can discuss which alternatives may be appropriate based on your health history and goals.
6. Clinician Oversight
Peptide therapy through Halftime Health is prescribed and overseen by a licensed clinician. You will receive instructions for administration, dosing, and monitoring. You are responsible for following those instructions and for reporting any adverse effects promptly.
Your clinician may adjust, pause, or discontinue your prescription based on your response or changes in your health status.
7. Your Consent
By proceeding, you confirm that:
- You have read and understood this consent, including the FDA status, potential risks, and available alternatives.
